How has Obamacare affected health insurance in Louisiana?
Answer:
Louisiana has not been a supporter of the Obamacare and therefore, have not implemented many of the provisions in the Affordable Care Act. Because of that, the state has low public health rankings, high uninsured rates, and the largest expenditures for Medicare. There have been three hundred thousand individuals that now qualify for subsidies through the Marketplace making coverage affordable, but the uninsured rate has only slightly decreased from 21.7% to 15.7%. The National Health Interview Survey determined the uninsured national average to be 9.1%.
